Background
Swim League has been engaging with swimmers for over six years, the last three years right across NSW. Bringing the team aspect into swimming, in a short action-packed event, Swim League has been developed for the future generation of swimmers.
Swim League Explained
Swim League is not your traditional swim meet. It’s a competition in the aquatic arena like you’ve never seen before. The points-based competition sees team’s s face off in a thrilling contest: team versus team in an action-packed 60-minute event.
Swim League caters for swimmers of all ages and abilities with swimmers participating in 3-5 races per competition. The team with the most points at the end of the match is declared the winner.
Match structure options, depending on registration numbers include, Round Robin, 1 v 1, Gala Day, and Series formats.
There is no timing, which makes for a more socially engaging and inclusive environment with less pressure on participants and a focus on scoring points and having fun.
The Swim League program of events are created by a specially designed algorithm, so every swimmer has a minimum number of swims and maximum number of swims, which means everyone has a role to play in their Team.
- Fun event, team based, in and out in one hour
- Focused on great racing, not times
- Providing a new product to a targeted demographic
- Supported by technology developed by Swimming NSW
- Inclusive – able and para participants
- No qualifying times

Why Swim League?
Swimming NSW has developed Swim League with the purpose of increasing participation in our sport. This product will bring new energy and interest to our sport, particularly for participants not yet interested in competitive swimming and those that are not yet members of our clubs.
Reimaging Our Sport Through Technology
With the integration of our Registration Platform, Team Sorting Blackbox Algorithm and Live Scoring App – The Swim League product is simple and easy to deliver with less staff and admin than ever before. Swimming NSW will continue to innovate the Swim League product to ensure we meet the needs of the swimming community.
Engaging With Our Areas
To ensure the success of Swim League Gala Days, we ask our Areas to support these events by promoting and advertising Swim League Gala Days in a positive and encouraging manner to encourage high levels of participation. These events will support membership growth within our Areas, but we need your support!
What is a Swim League Gala Day?
A Swim League Gala Day is a one-off event that can be held in a short 1–2-hour period depending on numbers. These events are run by Swimming NSW across each of our Areas. Clubs wishing to host their own Swim League event can do this via our Swim League Club product.
Swimming NSW will advertise the date and location of the event and share an Area President’s information pack along with advertising material. Once registrations close, Swimming NSW will create the teams, event program and start list.
The Team with the most points receives a Champions Shield.
Supporting Our Clubs
Swim League supports our clubs by encouraging swimmers that are participating in swimming lessons that might not have engaged in any club nights or competitions to give competitive swimming a try. We will work with our clubs to support them to use these events to drive membership growth.
